Born to a French artist and a Spanish developer, Nick Alain has dedicated his lifelong career to the pursuit of art and visual design. Consistently developing and reinventing his style to what the world sees today, he has created wonders of art that critics, buyers, and editors describe as “timeless, mechanically elegant nouveau chic.” At the early age of 6, Alain began learning the fundamentals of welding, woodworking, and furniture construction under the apprenticeship of his father. By the age of 7, he had designed his first light fixture, and by 9, he won his first furniture design award for a fully-electrified floor lamp. This deeply rooted passion accelerated Alain’s journey to expand upon familiar concepts, crafting them into unparalleled designs within the interior design and hospitality industries as time progressed. From his beginnings in Dallas, Texas, in the early 1980s with nightclubs such as The Back Seat (1984) and The Highland Park Night Club (1986), to relocating to the markets of Miami in the 1990s to creatively direct the first Miami-based retail store for Lotto Sport, an Italian shoe and apparel company, and later taking on projects of multiple, sensual communal spaces including Rebar, The Chilli Pepper, Club Nu, and Sempers, Alain has come in contact with a multitude of unique projects that have laid the foundation for what the design house of NICK ALAIN is today. He has also commissioned various intimate interiors for exceptional residences belonging to celebrity clients such as Gianni Versace, Cher, Sylvester Stallone, Danny Glover, Billie Joe Armstrong, and Alonzo Mourning. Utilizing his traditions of unexpected aesthetics and fabrications with dynamic, all-new lines of impeccably designed furnishings and fixtures, Alain has developed NICK ALAIN into a powerhouse design company.
